Deputy Chairman of International Competition of TAFISA World Games 2016 Ripka Wijaya said here on Sunday that the event will be a great opportunity for every country in the world to introduce their traditional sports and games.
Iran, one of the participating countries, will introduce its traditional sport called Zulfani to the TAFISA World Games 2016.
Meanwhile, Indonesia as the host will introduce and compete its traditional sports such as pencak silat, egrang, poco-poco dance and Nias stone jumping.
Pencak silat is a traditional martial art from Indonesia, while egrang is a kind of traditional stilts made from bamboo which are used to walk above the ground or water.
Furthermore, the Poco-poco is a popular line dance of Sangir Talaud people of North Sulawesi Province, while Nias stone jumping is a traditional ritual on Nias island, North Sumatra, with locals leaping over large stone towers.
There are around twelve thousands athletes from 110 countries expected to participate in the 6th TAFISA World Games of which the activities will be centered in the Jaya Ancol Dream Park, Jakarta.
Besides traditional games exhibition, there will be also international tournaments of Chinese liong (lion) and barongsai (dragon) dance performances, kites, cheerleaders, electronic sports and street soccer.
