We agreed to enhance our economic cooperation."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Monday met Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain to discuss developments in bilateral relations and potential cooperation in various fields.
"We agreed to enhance our economic cooperation," President Jokowi said here after attending the bilateral meeting held in Krakatua Room of the Jakarta Convention Center.
Pakistan is one of the major markets for Indonesia as the South Asian country is home to 200 million people and has a total trade worth more than two billion US dollars, President Widodo remarked.
"The Pakistani President also invited me to his country to work more seriously and in detail to enhance cooperation in various fields," the president said.
During the fifth extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the two countries also discussed the efforts that the Islamic countries can undertake to achieve peace in Palestine and the Middle East.
Also, Indonesia and Pakistan are eager in to augment cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism.
The bilateral meeting was also attended by Indonesias Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi and several ministers and government officials.
