Some 70 businessmen from East Java will hold business-to-business talks with their US counterparts when they visit the province, Deputy Chairman of the East Java Chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Dedy Suhajadi said here Saturday.
"We hope that the 70 businessmen will successfully sign business contracts so that they will boost economic performance, particularly in the trade sector," he said.
The 31 US companies are very keen to establish business cooperation with East Java because of its conducive political and economic situation in recent years, he said.
"The other factor attracting them to visit East Java is the provinces economic growth which is higher than that of other provinces in Indonesia," he said.
In addition, the provincial governments pro-business policy including the tobacco industry revitalization and distribution cost-subsidized program is another factor attracting the US companies, he said.
While in East Java, representatives of the US companies will also hold talks with district heads of Lamongan, Gresik, Sidoarjo, and Kota Pasuruan, in addition to Kabupaten Pasuruan, Banyuwangi, and Mojokerto. They will also hold talks with Pacitan, Tulungagung and Trenggalek.
"At the meeting they will reveal the economic potentials in their respective regions and hopefully, the US companies will invest in the regions," he said. (*)
