"They have been cornered and are counting down their days," the Indonesian Military Commander, Gen Gatot Nurmantyo, said.Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Military confirmed it has located and cornered the Eastern Indonesian Mujahidin, a radical group led by Santoso in Poso.
"They have been cornered and are counting down their days," the Indonesian Military Commander, Gen Gatot Nurmantyo, said here on Saturday.
Nurmantyo said the military personnel assists police in chasing Santoso terorist group members in Poso District, Central Sulawesi Province. He said the military personnel will give maximum assistance to the police.
A joint military and police personnel team is hunting down members of Santosos armed group through the Tinombala Operation.
The government has extended the operation for two months after it was ended on 10 March 2016.
Additionally, Indonesian Police Chief Badrodin Haiti said the hiding place of the terorist group is now narrowed. The police have also detected that the Mujahidin group had split due to internal dispute.
"We detected there are two armed groups in the mountain," he said.
The dispute, says Haiti, was caused by disagreement between Santoso and his subordinates.
However, police noted the members of Santoso group are larger than the fractional group.(*)
