At a hearing attended by the heads of the Indonesian Anti-Graft Agency (KPK), Financial Recording and Analysis Center (PPATK), and the National Police Force, Titos track record was discussed. The head of Commission III from the House of Representatives was also present at the hearing.
"I have known Commissioner Tito for a while now. We have been cooperating in professional tasks, especially recently. He has accompanied me during several tasks both within and outside the country. I have gathered inputs from various sources that Commissioner Tito is a professional officer," Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan stated at the House of Representatives building in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Luhut, who is also head of the National Police Commission, believes that Tito exudes professionalism as an officer and is able to work with different parties.
"We conducted an evaluation of several potential Police chief candidates from the National Police Commission, and we delivered the results directly to the president. Based on the analysis, the president has chosen Tito," Luhut revealed.
KPK Head Agus Rahardjo remarked that based on the anti-graft bodys notes, Titos record was clear. No reports have been made against him by the people nor has he been reported regarding his wealth as a civil officer.
"There are no reports made by the public involving Commissioner Tito. We did not find anything suspicious at all," he noted.
Based on the evaluation conducted by the PPATK, no suspicious activities were found in Titos accounts, Muhammad Yusuf, the head of PPATK, stated.
"We noted that Commissioner Tito had 14 accounts in private banks from 2004 until 2014, all of which are closed. He had three accounts in state-owned banks but had closed two of them, leaving him with just one account as of now," Yusuf explained.
The commissioners wife reportedly has four accounts without any suspicious transactions and has insurance cover.
"His three children each have a bank account, and no suspicious transactions have been recorded," the head of PPATK noted.
On the same occasion, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasona Laoly also lauded Tito, saying he was a professional figure.
The meeting, led by Bambang Soesatyo as the head of Commission III, was attended by several of its members as they expressed their support for Tito and praised his clean track record.
Commission III is scheduled to visit the residence of the sole candidate for the Indonesian Police chiefs post to conduct a fit and proper test on Thursday.(*)
