Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The State Intelligence Agency (BIN) is studying possible changes in strategy that the terrorist group ISIS may adopt as it continues to target different countries.

"ISIS is changing its strategy after it lost in Syria, Iraq and some other countries. They want to destroy their enemies," head of the State Intelligence Agency, Sutiyoso, said here on Monday.

Sutiyoso was of the opinion that the Solo bombing was orchestrated by a radical pro-Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group.

"At least the suicide bomber is a sympathizer of the ISIS," he affirmed.

He remarked that many regions in Indonesia have become potential pockets of the radical movement.

"There are many sympathizers of the ISIS in this country. We continue to monitor and observe them," he assured.

Sutiyoso expected that the revisions to be made in the anti-terror bill could be passed quickly.

"The draft bill should be strengthened as it will help early detection of any terror threat," he stated.

Earlier, a resident of Sangkrah District named Rohman had detonated a suicide bomb at the Surakarta Police Headquarters complex in Central Java on Tuesday, July 5.

Low-grade explosives were used in that homemade bomb, which, like most improvised explosive devices, contained ball bearings and screws.

Police officer Bambang Adi Cahyono, who suffered wounds and burns in the explosion, is currently undergoing treatment at the Panti Waluyo Hospital in Solo. The bomber, Rohman, died on the spot and his body was blown apart in the blast.

Following the Solo bombing, Intelligence analyst Ridlwan Habib of the University of Indonesia called on the security officials to remain alert to possible subsequent attacks in other parts of Indonesia.

The suicide bomber, whose apparent target was the Police Headquarters in the city of Surakarta, was stopped by a police officer on Tuesday morning, but a few minutes later, the bomb exploded and killed the attacker.

According to Heri, a vendor at the scene, the suicide bomber riding a motorcycle, tried to barge into the Police Headquarters at Jalan Adi Sucipto at 7:30 a.m. local time but was intercepted by a policeman. However, the perpetrator managed to blow himself up and died.

"The attacker was killed on the spot, while the policeman, who had tried to intercept him, was injured and rushed to the Panti Waluyo hospital," Heri noted.(*)
