Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The coalition of two political parties Gerindra and PKS has nominated former Education Minister Anies Rasyid Baswedan candidate for the next governor of Jakarta.

Anies with running mate businessman Sandiaga Uno will make three pairs to contest the gubernatorial election next year.

The coalition of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, which has the largest number of seats at the Jakarta City Council, Nasdem, Hanura and Golkar already nominated incumbent Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and Vice Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat as candidates to retain the positions.

Earlier on Friday, another coalition of four minority parties United Development Party (PPP), Nation Awakening Party (PKB), National Mandate Party (PAN) and Democrat Party nominated the pair of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, son of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and running mate Sylviana Murni .(*)
