Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police have named four suspects for trying to send Indonesian citizens to Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The suspects were identified by their initials as ANF, A, W and AR alias Abu Fauzan, the chief of the public relations division of the National Police (Polri), Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar, said at the National Police Headquarters here on Wednesday.

The four are among seven people arrested at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tengerang, Banten province, on Thursday (September 22) on charge of attempting to depart for Syria.

On Wednesday morning (September 28), the police arrested AR alias Abu Fauzan from Jakartas eastern outskirts of Bekasi. He faces a charge of arranging the departure of the Indonesian citizens to Syria to join the ISIS group.

"Abu Fauzan has been named a suspect and is still being questioned," Boy informed.

During the questioning, the police came to the conclusion that Abu Fauzan not only arranged the departure of the Indonesians to Syria but also motivated them to undertake such a perilous mission.

The police were still looking into the possibility of some mastermind instructing Abu Fauzan in this misadventure.

"We are still studying his role to see if he was acting on his own or at someone elses wish," he added.(*)
