"The real sales index in September 2016 which grew 15.7 percent yoy (year on year) is higher than that of August 2016 which reached 14.4 percent yoy," BIs executive director of communication department Tirta Segara said here on Tuesday.
Quoting the result of a survey conducted by BI on retail sales, he said the retail sales hike was caused by sales of several food commodities, spare parts and accessories, and other household utensils estimated to have grown 17.4 percent, 28.1 percent and 20.3 percent yoy, respectively.
"The retail sales hike is estimated to have mainly happened to a group of items, except information and communication devises," he said.
Yet, the survey showed a potential price hike in November 2016 as reflected by public price expectation index in the next three months starting August, rising 1.8 points to 122.5 points.
On a sale side in November 2016, the BI survey has detected possible slowdown as indicted by sales expectation index which will fall to 127.5 points in November 2016 from 129.6 points a month earlier.(*)
