"The meeting with Kofi Annan is to discuss many issues surrounding the conflict in Rakhine State, because he is the chairman of the Advisory Committee for Rakhine State," President Jokowi remarked.
Jokowi said he had ordered his ministers to prepare the necessary humanitarian assistance in the form of food and blankets to be sent as soon as possible to Myanmar.
"At the meeting, Kofi Annan mentioned the steps we need to take in assisting efforts to ease the humanitarian problem in Rakhine State," Jokowi noted after the 40-minute meeting with the former UN chief ahead of the Bali Democracy Forum at the Bali International Convention Center.
President Jokowi stated that he had sent Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi to Myanmar last week to meet with State Counselor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi to discuss the situation in Rakhine State.
According to Retno, Indonesias diplomatic efforts to deal with the security situation and condition of the victims in Rakhine following the October 9 attack have not stopped.
Retno said Indonesia had called on Myanmar to hold an inter-faith dialogue to put an end to the conflict in Rakhine.
"The cooperation we are seeking in the future is an inter-faith dialogue. We see Myanmar as a pluralistic society, just like Indonesia," Retno remarked after a bilateral meeting with Suriname Foreign Minister Niermala Badrising at the Westin Hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Wednesday night.
The Indonesian foreign minister confirmed she had spoken with Muslim and Buddhist organizations to promote inter-faith cooperation.
