"Energy availability must be sped up to meet both the short term and long term demand," State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno remarked.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno has stressed the importance of accelerating energy availability in the midst of increasingly tighter global competition and challenges.

"Energy availability must be sped up to meet both the short term and long term demand," the minister remarked during the Pertamina Energy Forum 2016 here on Tuesday.

Rini said Indonesia should be aware of the condition of the country and be able to strategically address any changes that occur in the energy sector.

She mentioned that one of the global challenges in the energy sector is that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) plans to cut oil production, which may have an impact on world oil prices.

Further, she pointed out that the various impacts of OPECs decision must be anticipated by the Indonesian government, especially the state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, which has an important role in Indonesias energy sector.

"Global competition is tight, and not only the ASEAN economic community but also the openness of trade with other countries requires Indonesia to step up its competitiveness," Rini added.(*)
