Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The prosecutors of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday asked the Jakarta Corruption Court to punish former chairman of the Commission D of the Jakarta City Council Mohamad Sanusi with a 10 years imprisonment for corruption and a fine of Rp500 million.

The prosecution charged Sanusi with accepting a bribe of Rp2 billion from President Director of PT Agung Podomoro Land Ariesman Widjaja and money laundering of Rp45.28 billion.

Public prosecutor Ronald F Worotikan also asked the court to strip Sanusi of his political right for 5 years after serving his jail term.

Ronald said as member of the city Council Sanusi had betrayed the public trust and tarnished the reputation of the City Council by committing corruption.

Sanusi had received the bribe money on March 28 and 31 in 2016

to help speed up the process of passing a draft regulation on the layout of northern Jakarta coastal areas and to accommodate the interest of PT Agung Podomoro Land in the regulation.

Earlier, Sanusi and Ariesman already met several times to discuss the draft regulation to favor Agung Podomoro, which has big reclamation project in northern coast of the capital city.

Ronald said Sanusi committed money laundering and in the period of 2009-2015 when he was member of the City Council Sanusi had never reported his assets.

He said Sanusi had bought assets worth Rp45.28 billion with money in bribes from a number of other contracting companies building the project of the Jakarta city administration.(*)
