Only the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia with its 1945 Constitution and ideology Pancasila has a single leader the president."
Ternate (ANTARA News) - GP Ansor, the youth organization of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the countrys largest non political Islamic organization, rejects the presence of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) in North Maluku, "as that organization (FPI) is potential to break the law."

"We reject whoever is against the law and Unitary State of Republic Indonesia (NKRI) in North Maluku, including FPI," chairman of North Maluku branch of GP Ansor Salim Thaib said here on Saturday.

North Maluku is peaceful without FPI, Salim said in a ceremony attended by North Maluku police chief Brig.Gen.Tugas Dwi Aprianto, regional military commander Brig.Gen. Handi Geniardi and chairman of North Maluk Ulema Council (MUI) Salman Ahmad.

He called on the leaders of the Regional Communication Forum not to give room for FPI or any extreme rightist or extreme leftist organization to operate in North Maluku .

"This is an instruction from the center and that there is no great imam in Indonesia," he said.

He said GP Ansor rejects calling Habib Riziek, the FPI leader, a Great Imam, adding, only bid mosques have High Cleric.

Separately, chairman of North Maluku MUI Salman Ahmad said MUI knows nothing about top leader or about Great Imam.

He said the term of Islam High Cleric has emerged only lately in the country.

"MUI knows nothing about such leader. Only the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia with its 1945 Constitution and ideology Pancasila has a single leader the president," he said.

Earlier, Muslim youths also rejected plan by FPI to establish its unit in Balikapapan, East Kalimantan.
