We questioned Pak (Mr) Patrialis Akbar and other witnesses."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Constitutional Courts (MKs) Ethics Council on Monday questioned MKs justice Patrialis Akbar at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Jakarta.
"We questioned Pak (Mr) Patrialis Akbar and other witnesses," MK Ethics Councils (MKMKs) chairman Sukma Violetta said at the KPK building in Jakarta on Monday.
However, Violetta did not reveal the information that MKMM sought from Akbar during the examination.
MKMK member Bagir Manan said the MKMK had not yet arrived at a point on what decision it would take against Akbar.
MKMK on Feb 6 decided that Akbar had committed gross violations on the codes of ethics and the guidelines of the constitutional judges. Hence, MK Chairman Arief Hidayat had submitted a recommendation letter for temporary dismissal of Akbar to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
The KPK has named Akbar as a suspect in an alleged case of bribery worth Rp2.1 billion, in connection with the judicial review of Law No. 41 Year of 2014 on Animal Husbandry and Animal Health.
He was caught red handed by the KPK along with a lady at the Grandi Indonesia on Jan 25, 2017.
Akbar had allegedly received US$20 thousand and S$200 thousand (about Rp2.1 billion) from President Director of PT Sumber Laut Perkasa and PT Impexindo Pratama Basuki Hariman.
"If Akbar is proven to have violated the law, it could be ascertained that he has also violated the ethics. Hopefully, this examination could be finished here (at the KPK), and we will continue it at the MK so that it could be finished," Manan noted.
KPK Spokesman Febri Diansyah earlier stated that the MKMK was slated to question Akbar and his close associate Kamaludin. Kamaludin was reported earlier to have received the money from Hariman.
"There are two suspects who will be examined. Two others, namely BHR (Bambang Hariman) and NGF (Ng Fenny), have been examined earlier.
Diansyah said MKMK has coordinated with the KPK over the examinations.
