Yes, that is our target."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The 7.1-kilometer (km) segment A2 (Bangli-Rembang) of Gempol-Pasuruan toll road project in East Java is expected to be operational by the end of this March, an official said.

"Yes, that is our target," Koentjahjo Pamboedi, a member of the Toll Road Regulator Agency (BPJI) and chairman of the Gempol-Pasuruan toll road assessment team, said in Jakarta, Friday (March 17).

To achieve the target, a joint team of the BPJT of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, the Land Directorate General and the National Police (Polri) is conducting an assessment of the toll road worthiness, he remarked.

"The Bangli-Rembang section has in general met the requirement and is ready to be operated this month," he said.

Pamboedi said the Gempol-Pasuruan toll road includes three segments; section 1: Gempol-Rembang covering 13.9km, which is divided into two work packages, namely, package A1 Gempol-Bangil (6.8km) and package A2 Bengil-Rembang (7.1km); section 2: Rembang-Pasuruan (6.6km); and section 3: Pasuruan-Grati (12.15km).

President Director of PT Trans Marga Jatim, Agus Purnomo, revealed the work on the Bangil-Rembang segment (package 2) has been 100 percent completed and was ready for operation, depending on the assessment team.

He hoped that it would be inaugurated this month as everything was ready.

Regarding the Gempol-Bangil segment (package A1), he said it was targeted to be completed and operated in the coming Eid al-Fitr season.
