"Aisyah`s attorneys stated that all documents should also be submitted to them, but the prosecutors said their party would give the files before the start of the trial in the high court," Andreano Erwin stated.
Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA News) - Siti Aisyahs attorney team, appointed by the embassy, expressed discontent over not having received the required case files from the police and public prosecutors, Indonesian Deputy Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur Andreano Erwin stated.

"The judges have decided the next hearing will be resumed at the high court in accordance with the case files that have been proposed," he noted after the trial of the Kim Jong Nam murder case in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia, on Tuesday.

He remarked that Aisyahs attorneys had not received the case documents that are in possession of the polices investigating officers and public prosecutors.

"Aisyahs attorneys stated that all documents should also be submitted to them, but the prosecutors said their party would give the files before the start of the trial in the high court," he revealed.

He said the files of the case could not be handed over to Aisyahs attorneys, as the documents were not yet complete.

"As we know, the lower court only handles cases to determine the material to be evaluated, so that it will not discuss further details related to this matter," he revealed.

He explained that the high court had authorized to determine the validity of the evidence to ensure that complete documents are presented during the trial in the high court.

"If necessary, expert witnesses need to be presented to provide testimony, and recordings should be submitted as stated by the public prosecutors," he remarked.

He said Aisyahs attorney team will send a letter to the high court to get information on the schedule of the hearing.

"The Shah Alam High Court will determine the time of the hearing. In normal conditions, the trial could be continued next month, but ahead of the Eid holiday, the hearing could be scheduled longer than usual," he explained.

Aisyahs trial had earlier taken place on the second floor of the First Sesyen Court that started at 9:30 a.m. local time and ended at 10:45 a.m. local time.

Attorneys of Aisyah from the Gooi & Azura law firm who attended the session were Gooi Soon Seng, Azura Binti Dato Alias, Selvi Sandrasegaram, Choong Kak Sen, Loke Kok Mun, Wong Kah Hung, and Mohd Irwan Bin Sumadi.

During the trial, Seng read out two pleas that had been submitted to the judges.

Representatives of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur who also attended the session were Indonesian Deputy Ambassador Andreano Erwin, Head of Protection Function of Indonesian Citizens Yusron B. Ambary, Research Attache Tjahjono, and several teams from the Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On Feb 13, Aisyah and Doan Thi Huong, along with four others who are still free, were charged with killing Jong Nam, the half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, at 9 a.m. local time at the Kuala Lumpur International Airports Departure 2 Terminal, Sepang region, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

Aisyah and 28-year-old Vietnamese woman Huong were charged with conspiracy and murder under sections 34 and 302 of the penal code, with the latter carrying capital punishment upon conviction.(*)
