Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Newly installed Governor of Jakarta Djarot Saiful Hidayat pledged he would finish all work on a number of development projects in Jakarta until the end of his term in October this year.

Deputy Governor Djarot was installed Governor of the capital city on Thursday to replace Basuki Tjahaya Purnama (Ahok) now serving a jail term of 2 years for blasphemy.

The first project to be completed this year is Integrated Public Space for Generous Children (RPTRA) and to improve its management, he said.

"After that we will carry out academic studies of RPTRA to provide basis for the management of RPTRA in the future in the form of draft regulation ," Djarot at the City Hall here after his installation by President Joko Widodo.

The next programs to be completed this year include registration processes mainly those related to drafting of regional budget and 2017 revised regional budget, and 2018 regional budget.

"We also will seek to finish the construction of Jak Grosir at the Kramata Jati Market Center so that we will have infrastructure mechanism in our efforts to stabilize the prices of essential goods in Jakarta," the governor said.

Other projects to be carried out before he leaves the City Hall include construction of low cost apartment buildings for rent to low income people and displaced people as a result of the normalization of the Ciliwung river bank.

"Next in the list of projects to be completed is revitalization of Taman Ismail Marzuki and construction of Al Mubarokah Mosque previously located in Kalijodo, but has to be moved to Taman Kodok. Hopefully it would be finished in October 2017," Djarot said.

The last in the list is to clear the Kalijodo area , below the flyover, after the pulling down of illegal building there on Tuesday, he said.

"The plan is the land below the flyover is to be transformed into a park and a parking lot for the vehicles of RPTRA Kalijodo visitors," he said.(*)
