Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The public works Housing Ministry said it hopes to finish construction of all Asian Games infrastructure by the end of 2017.

The facilities could be used for test events of a number of branches of sports to be contested in the Asia`s largest sport event, which is to be held in Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2 next year.

Renovation of all facilities in Jakarta`s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) is 87.3 percent completed, a press release from the Public Works and Housing Ministry said here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in Palembang renovation and development of venues has been almost finished as scheduled. Construction of the Jakabaring Sport City (JSC) in Palembang and facilities have been 92 percent completed.

Test events of the Asian Games 2018 are to be held in 10-18 February, 2018 for archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, football, martial arts, taekwondo, volleyball and weightlifting.

"I am optimistic all works in the GBK complex would be completed and the facilities would be ready for the test events in February 2018," Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimulyono said.

According to report of the Task Force of Infrastructure for Asian Games 2018 by 21 November 2017, by the end of November 2017 the GBK main stadium would be completed earlier than schedule, adding that work was already 96.62 percent completed.

In December 2017, Training Facility, Indoor and outdoor Tennis courts, Medium stadium, Softball, Basketball building and baseball fields will soon be completed. The Hokey field, archery field and football and aquatic stadium have been completed.

The ministry is also carrying out the face-lifting of the GBK complex to create a landscape with greater quality.

Meanwhile, development of the Jakabaring Sport City (JSC) in Palembang and rowing facilities has been 92 percent completed.

The public works and housing ministry also builds an athlete house in Kemayoran of Jakarta and Jakabaring of Palembang, now already more than 99 percent completed.

Construction of the Jakarta International Equestrian Park has been 89.77 percent completed.
