Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Police in North Sumatra province have shot dead three suspected drug traffickers of an international syndicate and seized 3 kilograms of crystal meth from them.

Two of the suspects were shot dead because they resisted arrest when the police searched their minivan at Letda Sudjono Street in Deli Serdang district on Friday, Vice Chief of the North Sumatra Provincial Police Brigadier General Agus Andrianto said on Monday.

"When the officers of the North Sumatra Provincial Police searched the car they found 1 kilogram of crystal meth wrapped in yellow Chinese tea plastic bag reading "Guan Yin Wang," he said.

The police later searched a black sedan at Pendidikan Street in Deli Serdang and found 2 kilograms of crystal meth wrapped in Chinese tea plastic bag, he said.

During the search the police also shot dead the suspect as he resisted arrest, he said adding his body has been taken to the Bhayangkara police hospital in the North Sumatra provincial capital of Medan for autopsy.

The three suspected drug traffickers, identified by their initials as BMI, IZ and SBN are residents of Aceh and Riau provinces. They are believed to belong to Malaysia-Aceh-Pekan Baru-Medan international drug syndicate.

During the search, the police also seized four mobile phones, a red bag, an Avanza minivan and a sedan.
