Jidda, Saudi Arabia (ANTARA News) - Hajj and umroh pilgrims from all over the world, including those from Indonesia, will enjoy trips from Jidda to Mecca and vice versa with luxury trains equipped with a latest technology system.

"From the airport, Hajj and umroh (minor hajj) pilgrims can go straight to the railway station in Jidda. The trains have facilities for those who want to enjoy all-round electronic services with the latest technology," Jidda Railway Station Project Manager Faisal Alghamdi said here on Feb. 24. 2018.

The luxurious trains which are facilitated with a cafeteria, internet connections and comfortable seating will depart from a railway station located at King Abdulah Economic City, Jidda, Faisal noted.

"The journey covering a distance of approximately 450 kilometers from Jidda to Mecca will take about one and a half hours," Faisal told three senior Indonesian journalists who are on a visit to Jidda at the invitation of the Saudi Arabian government.

Thirteen carriages will transport the Hajj and umroh pilgrims on a single journey from Jidda to Mecca, Faisal said, adding that the number of wagons will be added to 26 railway carriages imported from Spain.

In addition to the all-digital railway station, including the ticketing system, the station company is also building a mosque that can accommodate hundreds of worshipers, Faisal said.

The establishment of the station is part of the implementation of the Vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia which among other things concerns the interests of Hajj and umroh pilgrims from various nations around the world, he said.

Introduced by Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the vision aims to transform Saudi Arabia into the heart of the Arab and Islamic worlds, a global investment powerhouse and a hub connecting three continents of Asia, Europe and Africa.
