Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian cabinet ministers have been urged to wear jackets custom-made for the 2018 Asian Games, as it was promoted by President Joko Widodo among students of senior high schools at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Thursday.

"That is the plan (that the ministers wear the Asian Games jacket). Just now, Pak (Mr) Triawan Munaf, head of the Creative Economic Agency, proposed the same thing. Hence, we wear jackets for the countdown (of the Asian Games). If it has been worn by the president, it will definitely become viral," Tourism Affairs Minister Arief Yahya stated here on Friday.

While receiving some 270 students from senior high schools across Indonesia on Thursday at the Bogor Presidential Palace, President Widodo chose to wear a black Asian Games jacket bearing the illustration of various sports, such as basketball, weightlifting, archery, boxing and fencing, and the inscription "Asian Games" on the back, while the front part of the jacket bore the 2018 Asian Games logogram and the word "Indonesia" on the sleeve.

"The (jacket) design (for the ministers) will likely be different from that used by the president but should be in sync with (that worn by Jokowi). I think Mr Triawan`s idea is good if such jackets are worn by the ministers during the countdown of 100 days (before the Asian Games) starting from May 10," Yahya remarked.

The 2018 Asian Games will be held from August 18 to September 2, 2018, in Jakarta and the South Sumatra provincial city of Palembang.

Some 9.5 thousand athletes; 2.5 thousand personnel of the Asian Olympic Council; and 5.5 thousand technical delegates from 45 countries will participate or be involved in the event. Thousands of media representatives are also expected to cover the event.

As the host of the 2018 Asian Games, Indonesia is eying a top 10 place in the medals tally of the pan-Asian multi-sports event. To secure it, Indonesia must win 15 to 20 gold medals.

In the history of the Asian Games, Indonesia has never taken home 20 gold medals. The country registered its highest tally of 11 gold medals in 1962, when it hosted the event for the first time.
