The initiator of the 2019GantiPresiden movement, Mardani Ali Sera, who is also the Executive Board chairman of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) read the movement`s declaration during the rally.
"We, volunteers of 2019GantiPresiden, expressed our concern over poverty, injustice, threats to sovereignty and the current leadership crisis in Indonesia," Mardani said on a command car during the rally.
There are about 300 people gathered in that location. They carried t-shirts, hats, pins, sash flags attributes and other items that say 2019 ChangePresident.
Dozens of sellers sold items of those attributes on sidewalks and roads around the site.
"Therefore, we are determined to continue to fight with the people to realize a better, sovereign, dignified, just, prosperous and noble Indonesia," said Mardani.
In addition to Mardani, the initiator of the rally, Neno Warisman, was also present to lead the demonstrators to sing songs and to echo yells before the declaration was read.
To the press after the event, Mardani said the day`s event was peaceful and orderly. "Mr Jokowi (President Joko Widodo) has worked hard but we want a better way to bring Indonesia to face the challenges of time. We have discussed the five principles of Pancasila to give correction to the government," Mardani said.
He initially felt to obtain location permit for the event.
"We want a government that appreciates deliberation rather than a government that silences differences of opinion.Today`s event was orderly, safe and peaceful, we were asked what if Pak Jokowi`s supporters wanted to make an event beside us, We say please, because we are brothers. like us, so we have no problem," explained Mardani.
