Bangkok, Thailand (ANTARA News) - Gregoria Mariska completed her task to seize the first win for Indonesia in Group D of Uber Cup`s preliminary round after defeating Yaelle Hoyaux of France, 21-19 and 21-8, within only 23 minutes.

The 19-year-old singles player delivered an aggressive performance by hitting various smashes and some sharp drop shots to beat her French opponent at the Impact Arena, Bangkok, on Tuesday, without giving an opportunity to Hoyaux to fight her way back into the game.

Meanwhile, Hoyaux frequently committed fouls and missed hitting the shuttlecock that fell on the line.

After winning the first game, Mariska is preparing to face her opponent from China on Wednesday, a game that she describes as tough to compete. However, she is confident of playing in the last preliminary round of Group D.

"I am now focusing on facing China tomorrow, if the coach sets me to play," she stated.

Until now, some matches have been played between Indonesia and France in other games in the Uber Cup 2018.
