Speaking during a visit to Asshiddiqiyah 3 Islamic Boarding School of Sukatani Village, Cilamaya Wetan Sub-district of Karawang District, on Wednesday, when he also met ulemas and community leaders, the President said, "I believe when the political and security situation is stable, the development of our nation will continue. Indonesia can be a big country with the strongest economy."
The government estimated Indonesia could be among the top four of the world`s strongest economies by 2045.
The President said one of the steps to strengthen the economy was to develop ties with other countries. "We continue to develop our relationships with other countries in the Middle East as well as South Asia. The effort will strengthen our country`s economy," said Widodo.
President denied that Indonesia only focused on gathering investment from China, South Korea and Japan. Indonesia continued to strengthen cooperation with several countries in the Middle East, he said.
"Praise to God that several investment projects have been agreed on such as an oil refinery to be built in Cilacap with Saudi Arabia, development of the oil sector in Bontang of East Kalimantan with Oman, and the construction of a port in Kuala Tanjung in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates," he said.
Widodo was accompanied by the First Lady, Iriana Joko Widodo; the West Java Governor, Ahmad Heryawan; the Member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Agum Gumelar; the Coordinator of the Presidential Special Staff, Teten Masduki; and Special Staff of the President, Johan Budi and Abdul Ghofar Rozin.
The President also inspected the modern mini market operated in the Islamic Boarding School area, namely Kimo NU Mart.
