"We have added personnel from scouts, Karang Taruna (neighborhood youths), and residents from the surrounding areas to work as parking attendants and for ticket services," head of zoo management unit, Dina Himawati, said here on Saturday.
She stated that the zoo had always sought additional personnel to serve visitors, especially during Eid, as the number of its regular personnel is limited.
The zoo, which is one of the most popular recreation centers during holidays, is 47 hectares wide, while the number of visitors during the Eid has always rocketed to make the regular staff insufficient to provide full services, she remarked.
"Fifth percent of regular staff at Taman Margasatwa Ragunan work as cleaners and animal care workers. They cannot work at ticket booths or parking service as they may not leave their main tasks," she revealed.
She added that she expected the number of visitors would reach 800 thousand during the holiday.
On the second day of Eid, on Saturday, the number had reached 85 thousand. "On the first day, on Friday, it totaled to more than 20,700, while until 1 p.m. today, the number has reached more than 77 thousand," she pointed out.
