The fertilizer firm PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja and three fertilizer companies from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Norway also received certifications.
"The certification is as international recognition of the company`s commitment and its sustainability in managing and developing the fertilizer and agriculture industry in Indonesia," Nugroho Christijanto, PKG president director, said in a press release Friday.
The number of fertilizer companies included in the 'Hall of Fame of IFA Protect & Sustain' has now reached 49 companies from 53 countries.
After receiving the international certificate, PKG is expected to boost its performance based on the three basic principles of the IFA, which are safety, security and sustainability.
The certificate is important because, in the future, the company can no longer just provide agricultural input, but it must provide comprehensive solutions on a much larger scale, according to Christijanto.
"Hopefully, this certificate will further motivate us to always do better in promoting the national fertilizer and agriculture industry. Petrokimia Gresik can also help develop and provide solutions for the agro-industry sector in Indonesia," he added.
The conference was held over three days between June 18 and 20, 2018, and was attended by over 1,350 executive officers from various fertilizer and nutrition industries from around the world.
IFA is a fertilizer industry association with a membership of over 500 organizations from 85 countries and is the leading player in the global industry chain, which includes producers, traders, distributors, service providers, research organizations and international NGOs engaged in the sector.
