Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA News) - The state electricity company PT PLN will deploy 544 functionaries at 23 command posts around Jakabering Sports City (JSC) during the international sporting event of the Asian Games from August 18 to September 2, 2018.

PLN Sumatra Regional Business Director Wiluyo Kusdwiharto remarked here on Monday that the functionaries will be spread across 21 venues inside the JSC area and two venues outside the area.

"The PLN functionaries will be available for 24 hours throughout all venues in three shifts as a precautionary measure against power outages to ensure the smooth running of the sporting event," Kusdwiharto remarked.

He noted that the PLN of South Sumatra, Jambi, and Bengkulu have been preparing for the supply of electrical energy since the last two years to support the needs of the Asian Games.

He noted that at the venues in the Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring Stadium, PLN has provided 4 units of 500 kilo-volt-ampere (kVA) generators and 1,500 kVA back up transformer.

Similarly, for other sports arenas, such as the rowing venues, PLN is providing generators of 4x250 kVA and UGB 400 kVA; two generators of 400 kVA+250 kVA and UGB 400 kVA at the Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium; beach volley venue, 400 kVA generator and UGB 400 kVA; Sriwijaya Promotion Center, 400 kVA generator and UGB 400 kVA; sepak takraw venue, 400 kVA and 2GB 400 kVA generator; shooting venues, 2x400 kVA and UGB 2x400 kVA generator; and Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin-2 International Airport, 250 kVA generator.

With these facilities and infrastructure, he noted that the PLN is ready to maintain electrical reliability during the Asian Games event. It is also realized by setting up posts at 25 points comprising one joint post, six coordination posts, and 19 venue posts, with details, Airport Post, and Griya Agung Post.
