"I want to emphasize that SBY has not demanded a certain vice presidential name on behalf of the person or the Democratic Party," Prabowo stated, after his meeting with SBY in Jakarta, on Monday.
According to him, SBY`s attitude was an honor for him as he has gained confidence in determining the vice president.
But he stressed that the name of the vice president will be discussed further in the next meeting with PAN and PKS as coalition parties.
"It is an honor for me. Certainly, we will discuss the president-vice presidential candidate, which is a crucial one," he remarked.
Prabowo noted that Gerindra party will keep a close watch on the development of political maps in the next 10 days, ahead of the closing of the president-vice president registration on Aug 10, 2018.
He explained that Gerindra Party will continue to communicate with coalition partners to formulate the vision and mission and strategy of taking part in the 2019 presidential election.
"I am of the same opinion as of SBY. We have agreed that the basis of cooperation is to prioritize the interests of the people, who become the focus of goals," he explained.
Prabowo, who is the former commander of the Special Elite Army, revealed that SBY has repeatedly entrusted the message that in the future the government must understand the interests of the people of Indonesia.
He added that he accepted the emphasis of SBY?s message because it has become the foundation of his struggle and his thoughts, which is committed to upholding the Pancasila.
"We have the same attitude as the military alumni, and we are also committed to giving priority to Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, Unitary State of Indonesia and Diversity in Unity (Bhineka Tunggal Ika), and upholding the interests of the people and the Indonesian nation," he pointed out. *** 2 *** (E002/INE)
