Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan are among the state officials who accompanied the President during the inspection tour of the Jakarta sidewalk facilities.
Jakarta and the South Sumatran Provincial capital of Palembang will host the biggest Asian sporting events from August 18 to September 2, 2018.
The President, among others, inspected the sidewalks along Jalan Sudirman, the Karet areas in front of Le Meridien Hotel.
Jokowi and his entourage arrived at 5 p.m. and took a walk as far as the MGU building. The second spot visited by the President was the Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle in front of the Kempinski Hotel.
The President observed the rehabilitation of the fountain area decorated with flowers and neon signs and the Asian Games mascot.
In addition, the presidential party also checked the operation of the Pelican system crossing on the Plaza Indonesia sidewalk.
The President passed the Pelican crossing towards the Pullman Hotel.
Until 5:35 p.m, Jokowi, along with Anies and Basuki, walked along Jalan Thamrin.
The President continues to directly check the preparation of the sports venues and accommodation facilities, such as the Athlete Village, for the 2018 Asian Games.
In June, Jokowi checked the condition of the sidewalk at Door 6 of the "Gelora Bung Karno" Main Stadium and preparations for the opening ceremony at SUGBK.
In addition, on July 14, 2018, the President visited Jakabaring Sports City in Palembang, South Sumatra, including the Sriwijaya Gelora Stadium, shooting venue, bowling arena, reservoirs for rowing sports and the trial operation of the Light Rail Transit (LRT).
