Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) has asked people who would come to see the opening ceremony event of the 18th Asian Games at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan here on Saturday to come earlier at 3pm.

"We will stage initial performances at 5pm before the main show is held at 7pm. Apart from them there are also a bazaar and other activities to be held at the GBK complex," INASGOC director of media and public relations, Danny Buldansyah, said here on Friday.

He said people had been urged to come early with regard to avoiding traffic jams and a long line of ticket collection.

"We are afraid there will be traffic jams outside GBK before the opening ceremony. We will only open one booth for people to exchange their online order for physical tickets," he said.

The committee plans to open the entry gates to the GBK Main Stadium where the ceremony will take place at 3pm and will close them at 6pm before the arrivals of important guests from home and abroad.

The parade of athletes and officials from participating countries is scheduled at 7.45pm or 15 minutes after the ceremony begins.

It will be followed by speeches from the President of the Olympic Committee of Asia and INASGOC chairman at 8.30pm and various performances until 10pm.

Although the committee has provided parking lots at Sudirman Central Business District, people have been urged to use public tranportation to reach the venue. From Sudirman Street they may enter GBK through Gate 5, 6 and 7.
