Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian gold medalist duo in the art discipline of pencak silat Yola Primadona Jampil and Hendy have dedicated their victory to the earthquake victims in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
"We dedicate this to Lombok`s people, who have been suffering due to the disaster, as they deserve as well to celebrate this sporting event in Indonesia," Jampil noted after the medal conferment ceremony at the Pencak Silat Hermitage of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah Park in East Jakarta on Monday.
Jampil and Hendy secured the highest score of 580 points, thereby winning over Vietnamese opponents Duc Danh Tran and Hong Quan Le, who scored 562 points. The Vietnamese duo won silver medals, while the bronze medals were bagged by Malaysians Mohd Taqiyuddin Hamid and Muhammad Afifi Nordin.
"We are thankful for doing our best to compete with seven men`s doubles groups. We will be forever thankful for the support of Indonesian people," Jampil emphasized.
By winning in Pencak Silat, the duo had presented the 14th gold medal for Indonesia during the Asian Games 2018.
Nunu Nugraha, Asep Yuldan Sani, and Anggi Faisal Mubarok will take part in one competition for Indonesia to be held in the art discipline for the men`s group.
Apart from the art discipline, Indonesia will also compete in the final round of the fighting discipline: the class B men in the 50-55 kilogram category in which Abdul Malik will face Malaysian athlete Muhammad Faizul M Nasir.
In the second event, Aji Bangkit Pamungkas will clash against Singaporean Sheik Ferdous Sheik Alauddin in the class I men`s 85 to 90 kilogram category.
In the third event, Indonesian Iqbal Candra Pratama will compete against Vietnamese Ngoc Toan Nguyen in the class D men`s 60 to 65 kilogram category.
In the fourth event, Indonesian Sarah Tria Monita will go face-to-face against Laos Nong Oy Vongphakdy in the class C women`s 55 to 60 kilogram category.
The last event for pencak silat is in the class E men`s 65 to 70 kilogram category in which Indonesian Komang Harik Adi Putra and Malaysian Mohd Al Jufferi Jamari will participate.
