Park broke the record in the qualification round, with a timing of 4 minutes, 19.672 seconds. The earlier record was held by Kazakhstan`s Artyom Zakharov, with 4 minutes, 19.939 seconds, recorded at the 2013 Track Cycling World Cup in Mexico.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Chairman of the Indonesian Cycling Federation Sapta Oktohari noted that the Jakarta International velodrome track is designed for maximum speed.
"There would be several new records to be broken in this velodrome," Oktohari added.
