Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reviewed an exercise carried out by athletes to participate in the Asian Para Games 2018 at the Bung Karno main stadium, here, Thursday.

Jokowi was accompanied by Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, and Chairman of the Indonesian Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (Inapgoc) Raja Sapta Oktohari.

The head of state first visited the Senayan shooting range to observe the shooting athletes exercising.

From the shooting range, he walked 15 minutes to see the sitting volleyball athletes and later the lawn ball athletes.

The third Asian Para Games will be organized in Jakarta on October 6-13, 2018.

Following a limited cabinet meeting in Bogor Palace recently, Oktohari informed the press that preparations for the games were nearly complete.

The largest multi-sport event for Asian athletes with disabilities will involve some five thousand athletes and officials, including one thousand athletes using wheelchairs, eight thousand volunteers, five thousand field workers, and 800 media.

As many as 18 sports to be competed in the event are basketball, volleyball, fencing, table tennis, swimming, shooting, judo, cycling, chess, weight lifting, bowling, goal ball, badminton, running, archery, boccia, handball, and tennis.
