"Information about foreign nationals affected by the earthquake and tsunami until Monday at 1:00 p.m. total is 114 people," said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Data, Information and Public Relations Center, in a press conference related to the handling of the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Monday.
Sutopo said foreign nationals, who were not yet known reportedly, were one each from Belgium and South Korea and six from France.
South Korean citizens whose whereabouts are unknown is suspected to be in the Roa ROa Hotel in Palu which collapsed due to the earthquake.
While the evacuation of foreigners who have been found is coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"One Singaporean and one Belgian citizen have been evacuated to Jakarta, while one Spanish citizen is already in Ternate," he explained.
Some citizens of other countries have also known the condition, such as three Malaysian citizens known to be at the airport, one at the hospital and one in Poso.
As many as 10 citizens of Vietnam and 15 Thai citizens are also known to be safe and at the Mutiara Palu Airport post, while 17 other Thai citizens are waiting to be evacuated from IAIN Palu.
As many as 21 Chinese nationals are known to be safe at the Best Western Hotel, Palu, while nine Dutch citizens are in safe condition at Prince John Dive Resort, Donggala with one Swiss citizen and 17 German citizens.
Three German citizens are also known to be in safe condition, two of them are already at the airport.
"Seven Sri Lankan nationals are currently safe and can be contacted by the embassy," Sutopo said.
An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter Scale which was updated by BMKG to 7.4 on the Richter Scale shook the Palu and Donggala regions on Friday (28/9) at 17.02 WIB.
The 10-kilometer quake epicenter was 27 kilometers east of the Donggala Sea.
BMKG has activated tsunami early warning with Alert status (high potential tsunami of 0.5 meters to three meters) on western Donggala coast, and Waspada status (tsunami potential height of less than 0.5 meters) on northern Donggala beach, northern Mamuju and the western city of Palu.
BMKG has ended tsunami early warning since Friday (28/9) at 17.36 WIB.
