Samarinda (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) told members of of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) that he will help doctors seek solutions to problems confronting them.

When opening the IDI and the Indonesian Doctors` Wives Association here on Thursday, President Jokowi promised to find the best solution if there was a problem facing doctors.

"So far, the government has gone hand in hand with the doctors, but if it is true that they feel marginalized by the government, we will discuss it specifically with IDI Central Executive Board Chairman Prof Ilham Oetama Marsis, and the Director of Health Social Security (BPJS) Organizing Agency, Fachmi Idris," Jokowi said.

In front of the doctors, Jokowi claimed to have learned about the problem at BPJS, and would seek the best solution.

"I do not need to answer the question in this forum, we will discuss it later with related parties," the president explained.

Jokowi revealed that the health insurance card for the community had been in place since he served as Mayor of Solo, Governor of Jakarta, and finally in the era of his government through the BPJS.

"In Solo, the health cards were protested during demonstrations for about six months, and after that it went well. In Jakarta it also had a problem for one year, and it was settled. And the BPJS has been running for four years, but the problem still exists," Jokowi said.

The president expressed his hope that the issue related to the health service program by the Central Government is not detrimental to medical personnel, or to doctors.
