Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo received Palau President Thomas E Remengesau in a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Our Ocean Conference at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC).

"I would like to express my appreciation for the attention, sympathy and assistance of the people of Palau, which was channeled through PMI (Indonesian Red Cross) for disaster victims in Palu and Donggala," said the President in welcoming the bilateral meeting in Uluwatu V Room on Monday around 11:50 a.m local time.

In the meeting, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi as he popularly known explained the latest conditions of the handling of the earthquake which hit the Central Sulawesi province recently.

The head of state disclosed the emergency phase in the province had ended since last Saturday (Oct 27)

"Now it`s in the transitional phase until next month," the president added.

He explained that the process of rehabilitation and reconstruction of buildings is estimated to take around two years.

Meanwhile, President Thomas Remengesau expressed his appreciation to President Jokowi for the conference event.

"I am a representative of my delegation, from Palau. I congratulate you on the implementation of the Our Ocean Conference," said President Remengesau.

After the meeting with President Palau, President Jokowi held a bilateral meeting with Prince Albert II of Monaco.

President Jokowi has opened the 5th Our Ocean Conference in Bali.

The theme raised at OOC 2018 is "Our Ocean, Our Legacy".
