"God willing, we found an indication of a black box signal based on the `ping locator,`" Head of the BPPT Marine Survey Technology Agency (Teksurla) M. Ilyas noted in a written statement received in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Wednesday.
Since Wednesday morning, he noted that it had lowered the "ping locator" tool to track signals from the black box.
In addition, the Baruna Jaya team has lowered the "Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) Transponder" equipment since early morning.
He explained that the "black box" signal controller tool was lowered into the sea as an additional effort to optimize the search.
"The USBL Transponder works similar to a `Ping Locator.` We will maximize the potential of the existing technology on the Baruna Jaya I BPPT ship to track the black box signal," he noted.
Meanwhile, Head of Tanjung Karawang Lion Air T-610 SAR Operations Team Tris Handoyo noted that KR Baruna Jaya I is still tracking the Priority I underwater search area.
He explained that Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) will be lowered after the "black box" signal was found.
"We will immediately use the ROV. After the signal is found, of course, the ROV will be revealed to get the visual," he remarked.
During this mission, the Baruna Jaya Research Ship has also brought experts or experts in Underwater Mapping, ROV, Instrumentation, and teams from the NTSC. For conducting a black box search, the Baruna Jaya I ship has been equipped with technology to identify its location and coordinates.
The four tools comprise the Multibeam Echo Sounder, Side Scan Sonar, Magnetometer, and Remotely Operated Vehicles.
BPPT Deputy of Natural Resources Development Technology Hammam Riza noted that his side had continued to coordinate with the National Basarnas and NTSC regarding the area or area of search where the ill-fated aircraft crashed into the waters.
"Our Baruna Jaya I Research Ship is available round the clock. With the technology on board, we will strive as much as possible to immediately find the black boxes and wrecks," he added.
