Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Indonesian News Agency Antara expressed readiness to update its cooperation with Radio Taiwan International on the exchange of information in the form of audio-visual, photos, and videos.

"At the moment, we want to update the contents of the collaboration with Radio Taiwan International regarding the exchange of information in the form of audio-visual, photos, and videos," Antara`s Editor-in-Chief Akhmad Munir stated while receiving a visit from the Radio Taiwan International delegation at the Antara News Agency`s office, Jakarta, Wednesday.

He remarked that Antara News Agency was also keen to work together on the exchange of information on Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) in Taiwan, tourism promotion, and trade.

"There is great potential for cooperation, especially on matters relating to Indonesia`s interests in Taiwan. First, information exchange related to the life of Indonesian Workers (TKI) in Taiwan. If there is a successful migrant worker, it can inspire the Indonesian people," he noted.

Moreover, the exchange of tourism information holds significance, as the number of Indonesian tourists to Taiwan increased.

Based on data from the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, the number of Indonesian tourists visiting Taiwan had increased by 46 percent in 2017, reaching more than 189 thousand people.

"Third, the exchange of trade information between Indonesia and Taiwan," he noted.

He said Antara produced news in various formats, such as text, videos, photos, and infographics.

Meanwhile, Antara`s Managing Editor Budi Setiawanto invited Radio Taiwan International to provide Chinese news content for the channel of antaranews.com.

However, the Chinese news issue is related to Indonesia.

On the same occasion, Ombudsman of Antara Bambang Purwanto stated that Antara News Agency and Radio Taiwan International can hold a photo exhibition in a bid to promote Indonesian and Taiwanese tourism.

"Indonesia is promoting 18 major destinations, while Taiwan is promoting halal tourism. This is a big market for Taiwan, as Indonesia has a large Muslim population. Hence, one mechanism that we can offer is a photo exhibition," he stated.

Moreover, photo exhibition featuring photo book can be held. Hence, those keen on knowing more about Indonesia and Taiwan can read the photo book.

"For the internship program, we can send one or two reporters to be part of the internship process at Radio Taiwan International and Antara News Agency," he stated.

Meanwhile, Radio Taiwan International Chairperson Lu Ping welcomed Antara News Agency`s request to update the contents of the cooperation established between the two parties since December 2009.

"Of course, we are very grateful for the renewal of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to information exchange in the form of audio, visuals, photos, and videos," Ping affirmed.

Ping said he will follow up on the exchange of information on migrant workers, tourism, and trade.

"Regarding the collaboration for the photo exhibition, we can follow up together. However, during the photo exhibition, we can include some activities on how to experience Indonesian life in Taiwan. As a result, the photo exhibition can become a big event," she remarked.

Furthermore, Ping said that the journalist exchange program between Antara News Agency and Radio Taiwan International could be held in the near future.

"Journalist exchanges can also be directly carried out. There are several countries` journalists, who participate in the internship program at Radio Taiwan International," she noted.
