The cooperation was marked by the signing of a trade collaboration note by chairman of the Aceh chamber of commerce and industry Muzakir Manaf and his counterpart, chairman of the Andaman chamber of commerce and industry, Shri Giris Arora, in Port Blair, India.
"Aceh has great potential for natural resources to develop and Aceh is open to all parties for business and investment, let alone this cooperation with neighbors, the Andaman-Nicobar Islands," Muzakir Manaf said in a statement received in Banda Aceh on Friday.
Muzakir also said his side is currently working hard to accelerate economic development in the local area.
The cooperation was facilitated by the Agency for the Assessment and Development of the Asia-Pacific and African policy and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The private sector should be involved in the economic development in Aceh particularly in developing business and investment in order to create jobs," he said, adding the signing of the cooperation was also witnessed by Indonesian Ambassador to India Sidharta R Suryodipuro.
Muzakir (former deputy governor of Aceh) further said that Aceh has oil, gas and forests that open up opportunities for carbon trading and has other potential minerals such as gold and iron ore.
In addition, Aceh also has an agricultural sector that can be developed, such as coffee, cocoa, palm oil, volatile species, and includes various types of fruits and vegetables.
"In the fisheries sector, Aceh is currently able to process and export to Japan and other countries," he added.
