"We have so far not received reports of damage to infrastructure or casualties from the earthquake," said Head of the Lebak Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Madias, when contacted from Lebak on Friday.
A magnitude 5.0 earthquake, which was located 7.19 South Latitude, 105.83 East Longitude, around 83 Km Southwest Lebak at a depth of 19 km, did not cause a tsunami.
The tremors did not cause panic among people, who live on the southern coast of Lebak, which is located close to the epicenter.
The possibility of a 5.0 magnitude earthquake does not cause damage to infrastructure.
Currently, the people`s activities on the southern coastal areas, include Wanasalam, Pangarangan, Cihara, Bayah and Panggarangan Sub-Districts, looked normal.
"We ask the public to remain calm and not panic about the earthquake," he explained.
According to him, the earthquake with 5.0 magnitude was relatively small so that it did not cause damage to residential houses as well as infrastructure and casualties.
In addition, there is also no potential for tsunami waves.
The district disaster mitigation agency has asked the community members to continue to raise awareness to minimize casualties.
"We remain alert for 24 hours to anticipate natural disasters, so we can move quickly to evacuate rescue victims," he said.
