"The meeting would discuss the transportation system in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) in future. The question is whether the problem is only related to transportation and how it could encourage the other sector," Kalla remarked at the opening of the meeting.
The vice president observed the capital city`s traffic at around 8 a.m. local time aboard a Puma helicopter.
According to Kalla, the traffic situation in the major thoroughfare of Jl. MH Thamrin and Jl. Jendral Sudirman differed from that in Tanjung Priok of North Jakarta and other streets in Bekasi.
"It looks like Singapore when we pass through Jl MH Thamrin, but in Tanjung Priok, it looks like (the streets) in Bangladesh)," he pointed out.
The meeting is aimed at seeking solutions to the traffic jam in Greater Jakarta.
Present at the meeting are Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
