"We must be wise and mature in responding to any occurrence. Hence, I urge all to stop uninstalling Bukalapak since there are young people, who are innovative and creative, to develop themselves," he stated here on Saturday.
Speaking to journalists after meeting with Bukalapak founder and CEO Achmad Zaky at the Merdeka Palace here, the president remarked that the government and business community have continued to encourage micro, small, and medium enterprises to join the online marketplace.
By joining the online e-commerce marketplace, small and medium enterprises have helped Indonesian unicorns gain a foothold to compete with those in other countries, the incumbent president pointed out, calling to stop uninstalling Bukalapak.
On Friday, the social media platform Twitter was flooded with the hashtag of #uninstallBukalapak in response to Zaky`s controversial tweet that had made several Twitter users unhappy.
The Bukalapak CEO, who had later deleted his tweet, commented on Indonesia`s research and development (R&D) budget, saying that it was smaller than those of several other countries and wrote "May a new president be able to increase it (budget)."
The controversy might be linked to the phrase "new president" despite the fact that in the tweet, Zaky also revealed the ranks of countries, with huge amount of R&D budgets.
Bukalapak founder and CEO Zaky has apologized to President Jokowi for his recent tweet that triggered outrage among Twitter users, who have accused his tweet of favoring one of the presidential candidates.
Zaky expressed apology and tendered a clarification over his tweet during his meeting with President Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace.
