A spokesman of the ministry Djati Witjaksono Hadi said in a statement here on Sunday, the ministry distributed stainless steel and recycled shopping bag for visitors of the festival held on March 1-3, to promote less use of plastic items.
Under the tagline Less Waste More Jazz the ministry has called on visitors to reduce single-use plastic such as plastic bag, straw, bottle, and styrofoam.
The ministry has also shared information on social forestry, land rehabilitation in river basin.
The government has launched the Indonesia Clean Campaign during the national working meeting on Indonesia Clean on Feb 21.
The campaign is aimed at improving people`s healthy lifestyle.
Based on law no. 18/2008 on waste management the ministry has formulated the strategy and policy in waste management involving all stakeholders, especially local government and the public.
The government has targeted 100 percent of waste management by 2025, by reducing 30 percent of waste volume.
With total population of 265 million, Indonesia is expected to produce 65.79 million tons of waste per year, while the capacity of sanitary landfill in 2016 has declined from 55 percent in 2016 to 44 percent in 2018.
