AntaraJayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The Papua Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) is collaborating with the Religious Affairs Office of Nabire District to serve the community.
Head of the Papua Immigration Division of the Law and Human Rights Office Hermansyah Siregar stated on Wednesday that the collaboration had taken place during a working visit to the Nabire Religion office on Tuesday (Mar 26).
Hermansyah explained that the working visit was held to discuss several agendas covering the development of synergy and collaboration between the two agencies for providing services to the community.
"We are optimistic that several agendas being discussed during this visit would be implemented well," he stated.
Meanwhile, Religion Office Head of Nabire Katrin expressed gratitude and happiness on receiving the visit of the head of the Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Human Rights of Papua. She pointed to the sound cooperation that had long been established with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.
"This year, I did not expect to receive a visit of the head of the Immigration Division to Nabire just to serve our prospective pilgrims," Katrin noted.
Katrin expressed hope that in future, the immigration service for prospective pilgrims from Nabire would continue to be improved.
She also urged the Immigration Office to give some thought to the construction of an Immigration Branch Office in Nabire District.
"Nabire is included in the Meepago region, with a working area covering five districts connected through modes of land transportation," she stated.
The Meepago region is divided into the five districts of Nabire, Paniai, Deyai, Dekai, and Intan Jaya. However, only air transportation is available in Intan Jaya District, while the four other districts use land routes.
Hence, prospective Hajj Pilgrims face difficulties related to their passports, as the community had to tend to such matters in Jayapura and Biak.
To this end, she has called for an establishment of an Immigration Office in Nabire for ensuring optimal services to the community.
