"They will ride around the Dompak Island area seven times," Head of the Department of Youth and Sports (Dispora) of the Riau Islands Province Maifrizon noted in Tanjungpinang on Saturday.
Maifrizon pointed out that the event was organized as a result of cooperation between the Riau Islands provincial government with the event organizer (EO) from Singapore, which has experience in holding cycling events of international standard.
"The technical implementation will be managed by the EO. We merely offer support to ensure that this activity runs successfully," he explained.
The intended support comprises readying tents, security forces, items of consumption, and various other requirements for the smooth implementation of the event.
He also expressed enthusiasm to welcome the event that would serve as a regional promotion event, especially to draw foreign travelers to the capital city of Riau Islands.
"Moreover, it can boost foreign tourist arrivals to the Riau Islands region," he pointed out.
He remarked that the Riau Islands provincial government was also prioritizing the development of Dompak Island as a sports center that is not only of national but also international standard.
