Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko stressed that the government is committed to safeguarding and guaranteeing public safety.
"We opened ourselves as widely as possible to the public, so that the public understood very well that nothing had been engineered," Moeldoko was quoted as saying on the Jakarta State Palace web page on Wednesday.
According to Moeldoko, the government did not create a chaotic scenario during the demonstration on 21-22 May 2019.
He has since handed over to the police the task of investigating the rioting after a peaceful demonstration in front of the Election Supervisory Agency's office in Jakarta.
"Later, we will advance again who really is behind this. So yesterday, we had not revealed who was the mastermind of the riots. Yesterday (we) revealed more about the origin of weapons and what weapons they wanted to use," Moeldoko said.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Wiranto said the National Police would provide information on the results of investigations into the riots.
In addition, the National Police will also disclose information about illegal weapons owned by retired officers, as well as the connection of the rioters with a plan to kill five national figures.
