Jokowi, Loong hold meeting ahead of ASEAN Summit plenary

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a pull-aside meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong prior to the plenary of the 34th ASEAN Summit held at Athenee Hotel in Bangkok on Saturday night.

During the meeting, President Jokowi was accompanied by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, the Presidential Secretariat's Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media Affairs, Bey Machmudin said in a written statement released on Sunday.

Both Jokowi and Loong discussed a plan to hold a leaders retreat between the two leaders in Singapore early December 2019, Retno said following the meeting.

"The leaders retreat will be held in the first week of December 2019 in Singapore," Retno said.

The meeting between Jokowi and Loong lasted in a short time because it took place before the plenary began, she said.
