Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - Labuan Bajo Port in West Manggarai District, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will be developed to only serve tourist ships, while the container and public port will be moved to Bari.

"Today, President Joko Widodo will visit Labuan Bajo Port. The port is planned to become a marina for tourist boats in the future," a spokesman of East Nusa Tenggara provincial administration Marius Ardi Jelamu said here on Thursday.

Komodo Airport will become an international airport and Labuan Bajo Port will be prepared as a marina for tourists, he continued.

Development of the special marina for tourist has been handled by state-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry.

While the construction of a new port in Bari, Macang Pacar Sub-district will be conducted by the Transportation Ministry.

Jelamu said, currently loading activities, as well as passengers and tourist ships, are still operating at the same location.

"In the future, Labuan Bajo will have well-organized ports. There will be a special port for containers, a special port for passengers, and for tourists," he said.
