Ferdian, an eyewitness, said he saw a number of demonstrators vandalizing and setting the police post ablaze.
"I saw the police post being torched. But suddenly, a student tried to put out the blaze," he said.
The student shouted out to the other demonstrators not to set fire to the police post because it is state property, he said
Until this story was filed, tear gas was still being fired near the Semanggi interchange in South Jakarta.
