Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has made assurance of including native Papuans in his subsequent cabinet line-up for the 2019-2024 period akin to the current ministerial team for the 2014-2019 period.

"I ensure there is a Papuan in the cabinet," Jokowi stated here on Friday after receiving several elementary students of Jayapura and Asmat, Papua Province, at the Merdeka Palace.

The head of state did not speak of the exact number of native Papuans in his next cabinet.

"How many? We will see," he stated.

In the current cabinet line-up, Prof. Dr Yohana Susana Yembise, as Indonesia’s minister for women’s empowerment and child protection, represents Papua.

Jokowi affirmed that his next cabinet line-up might be announced on the same day of his presidential inauguration on October 20, 2019, or on the next day.

Jokowi confirmed to the formation of his cabinet line-up though adding that changes could be made any time prior to the announcement.

The ministerial team will reportedly comprise professionals and millennials. Sri Mulyani, currently finance minister, will likely remain in the cabinet.
Leaders of the 10 political parties, supporting Jokowi's Indonesia Working Coalition (KIK) during the presidential election, are likely to join the new cabinet. These parties are the ruling PDIP, PKB, PPP, Golkar, Nasdem, PSI, Perindo, PKPI, Hanura, and the latest one, PBB.

Jokowi was re-elected as Indonesia's president for the 2019-2024 period on the basis of results of the presidential election organized on April 17, 2019, throughout Indonesia.

Jokowi and his running mate, Ma'ruf Amin, won 55.5 percent of the vote as against 44.5 percent secured by his rival, retired general Prabowo Subianto in the 2019 election that was a replay of the contentious 2014 presidential election that exposed a deeper national divide, as Jokowi and Subianto went head to head.

Over 192 million eligible voters made their choice of president and vice president as well as 20 thousand local and national lawmakers during the 2019 poll.

Indonesia's simultaneous legislative and presidential elections were viewed as the world's largest and most complex single-day democratic exercise, resulting in some 700 poll officers becoming unexpected martyrs owing to exhaustion after working incessantly for protracted hours.
